Hello everyone, 

It's been an interesting month with a lot of stuff going on. I started the month with covid, not nice, and so some of my plans went out of the window. I was very grateful to Fiona and Liz from Warners solicitors who held the fort admirably, thank you ladies.
The annual Dementia Showcase event took place in Maidstone which I attended for our group. Some of our committee members were also there in their professional capacity and I shall be interested in their feedback. Again, I felt the venue was wrong, with no easy public transport access, and spread over a school campus in 4 different buildings. This meant that there was very little public footfall and the majority of attendees were professionals. However, that's only my opinion and others may have a different view.
November sees the last of our bowls club cafes for the year as we have no access during December. We shall also be without Sarah at the Tunbridge Wells cafe for a couple of months while she has some medical appointments. We wish you well Sarah and a full and speedy recovery.
 

14th November - Alison Marsden the plant lady with some interesting stuff for Christmas
28th November, last before new year, we shall end the year on a good old sing along with Di and John.
Although no December cafes we shall,  hopefully, all meet up at the Pantominime at the EM Forster Theatre in Tonbridge on December 28th.

Angel Indoor Bowls club at 2pm. on Friday November 1st.
Physio, Riley Horner,  will be joining us to give some tips about lifting and moving your cared for person safely.  All carers are welcome.
Andrew, who came to chat to the carers group last month, trades as the Namaste Barber. There are many mobile lady's hairdressers, but few men's barbers, or even any, who specialise in clients with dementia. If you are caring for a male relative and would find this a help, give Andrew a call.

The usual Carol Service, adapted and suitable for those living with dementia will be held on  Wednesday 11th December at 11.00 am with refreshments afterwards in the Church Centre., St John's Church, Hildenborough. All are welcome
 
Our amazing Musical Memories Choir will be in concert again on December 14th at Tonbridge methodist Church. Sadly I shall be unable to join them as I will be with my family at the carol concert at the Royal Albert Hall.  Please put the date in your diary and support this lovely group.

August Dates for the VDT Tour

We have Booked the Dementia Tour Bus for the 17th May next year when it will be at the civic centre square in Southborough.. We will begin to take bookings from early next year, so if you are interested, save the date.

Whether you support people that have dementia or have a personal connection, there is no other training course available that will give you a deeper understanding than the Virtual Dementia Tour. Created 25 years ago, experienced in 24 countries and by over 6 million people, this scientifically and medically proven method of allowing you to experience what it might be like to have mid-stage dementia, is the best way to build an empathetic and inclusive care pathway.  The Virtual Dementia Tour uses specially developed equipment to change your sensory perceptions to allow you a window into their world and experience what people with dementia experience daily. It is not suitable for anyone with a dementia diagnosis or epilepsy.
We're going to the pantomime! Oh yes we are!


I have purchased 30 tickets for the Snow White at the E M Forster theatre at Tonbridge School on Saturday December 28th at 3pm. Very much first come first served as some of the performances are already sold out.
