Tonbridge & Malling and Tunbridge Wells Dementia friendly Communities.
Hello everyone, During September I chaired the quarterly meeting of the dementia friendly Tonbridge and Tunbridge wells group. The group is made up from local businesses, local council, care providers, and volunteers. I have chaired this group, actually two separate groups until I joined them together earlier this year, for ten years, and have been concerned that if I were unable to continue it may all just cease to exist. I am therefore absolutely delighted that Lindsey Nathan has agreed to take on the role of deputy chair. Lindsey is just starting to deliver our 'understanding dementia' sessions and is as enthusiastic as I am to see our work continue. We discussed at the meeting various subjects including our annual fundraising concert. I will upload the notes of our meeting to our website as soon as I can.
October 10th - Babalwa Luthuli who will bring some interesting art and music from South Africa. October 24th - We're going to make a start on getting into the Christmas mood with some Christmas craft activities..
At our meeting on October 4th we shall welcome Andrew Kupers who is a mobile barber specialising in barbering for gentlemen with dementia or learning difficulties. Unfortunately I am away in Leicester at a conference but. Fiona and Liz , our lovely volunteers from Warners solicitors will be on hand to greet you all. Angel Indoor Bowls club at 2pm. All carers are welcome.

The usual Carol Service, adapted and suitable for those living with dementia will be held on Wednesday 11th December at 11.00 am with refreshments afterwards in the Church Centre., St John's Church, Hildenborough. All are welcome
Our amazing Musical Memories Choir will be in concert again on December 14th at Tonbridge methodist Church. Sadly I shall be unable to join them as I will be with my family at the carol concert at the Royal Albert Hall. Please put the date in your diary and support this lovely group.

We have Booked the Dementia Tour Bus for the 17th May next year when it will be at the civic centre square in Southborough.. We will begin to take bookings from early next year, so if you are interested, save the date.
