Hello everyone, 
Our afternoon at the seaside was a bit wet!! Not skinny dipping, rain, and lots of it. Despite that most people had a good time. We had time for lunch and a visit to the amusement arcades. We are now looking forward to our next outing on the Spa Valley railway in August.
We were very overdue for our quarterly DFC committee meetings and because I am chairing both Tonbridge and Tunbridge Wells DFC I decided to amalgamate and have joint meetings. The first was on Tuesday 25th June in Southborough, a good half way point. We had 17 people attending representing many parts of our communities, Among the agenda items were:  Progress of all our cafes and support groups, a report from ADSS: Information from Kent Dementia Action Alliance, in particular the show in October and a decision that we will continue with our annual last night of the proms concert. We also discussed the need to increase our awareness training and  I am very pleased that we will, hopefully. soon have one or two more people equipped to deliver the dementia awareness training to local groups and businesses. It was a very positive meeting, and I'm sure that going forward we will be stronger together.
A huge shout out and thank you to Lindsey Nathan, one of our cafe volunteers, who completed the three peaks challenge last weekend raising money for us and the MS society. She believes we will benefit by around £1000. Well done Lindsey, truly inspiring. If anyone wants to donate her just giving page is still open.

Friday July 5th at the Angel Indoor Bowls Club at 2pm - 3.30. I'm trying to source a speaker, but if I don't get one in time we can unpick the election and Euros results between us.. Look forward to seeing you.

 




SPA VALLEY RAILWAY TRIP WITH LUNCH 
THURSDAY AUGUST 29TH 
12.30 AT THE SPA VALLEY, WEST STATION, TUNBRIDGE WELLS.
 
 
The12:55 service from Tunbridge Wells West, freshly prepared portion of Cod & Chips (other options are available, see below) will be served at your seat followed by an Ice Cream dessert. Return to Tunbridge Wells West is at 13:55, this trip includes both Steam and Heritage Diesel.
 
I need names, contact telephone number and a menu choice  by July 26th at the latest as I have to give numbers and menu choices one month in advance. There are only 48 places available so its first come first served.
Menu choices are Cod and Chips, Sausage and Chips or veggie burger.

Please note that I am in discussion with the railway team as there may be an issue with taking wheelchairs onto the train. I hope to have. a definitive answer soon, but not in time for this newsletter. Please email me if this is a concern. and/or to book a place  chrisparker002@icloud.com.
